My blood group is O negative and my partner is A positive, could this be causing my miscarriages?

I am 6 weeks pregnant by my dates. I have been spotting for 2 days i went to the doc today and i had an ultrasound done they say i am only 5 weeks and the report said due to the small sac size, a fetal pole or yolk sac has not been identified and therefore viability has not been confirmed. No perigestational bleed. Can you tell me what this means. I have 3 children and have had 4 miscarriages. My blood group is O negative and my partner is A positive has my blood group got anything to do with my miscarriages.

Answer: Hi, If you have had a high number of miscarriages you need to see a specialist obstetrician to have some further tests. If you are a negative blood group and your partner is positive you are at risk of developing antibodies. You can have this checked with a blood test. You also need to have an anti D injection regularly during each pregnancy and each time you bleed in pregnancy. Best wishes, Alex
