If I have this cold, does the baby have it as well?

Hi Alex
I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been told I have gestational diabetes after doing the GCT. My reading was 8.1 - the doctor who informed me is not my ob and my ob wanted me to do the 2nd test but the first doctor said not to do it because they aren`t accurate and she has put me on a diabetic diet and has me testing my blood sugar level 4 times a day.
Who should I be listening to? my ob or the other doctor? (my ob referred me to her re high blood pressure - she is an endocrinologist).

Also, I have quite a bad head cold, blocked nose etc; if I have this cold, does the baby have it as well? maybe a dumb question but I was just curious.
thanks for your time
Tracey

Answer: Hi Tracey, An endocrinologist is a specialist for diabetes so it is best to follow their advice on your diabetes. Usually if a random blood sugar is high then a further test is done to check if you have diabetes. If you have a cold the baby is well protected and not affected. Best wishes, Alex
