night time nappy changes?? Lock Rss

i know this might sound like a really stupid question but i have an 8 week old son and i just read on the huggies website that night time nappie changes only need to be done if bubs has done a number 2.

I didnt know this, but i was wondering how many of you actually dont change unless they have done a poo?

i mean you have to open up the nappy to check anyway so wouldnt you just change it aswell?

With DS1, if he woke up during the night, I changed his nappy regardless. But, he was an amazing sleeper and rarely woke overnight from 2 weeks of age so he would happily sleep all night long without a nappy change.

DS2 is now 10.5 months and he will wake up specifically to get a nappy change! He hates being in a wet nappy (which I can understand) so, he simply wouldn't tolerate going all night in the same nappy.
when my slept through without waking I would not change them, only if I could smell a pooey one I would.ds1 did not wake at night from 6 weeks and ds2 did usually with a poo. ds3 never woke at night from 10 days

i would change mine during the night if they had done a poo, and at every feed they had during the night. they started sleeping through each at 4months. at that time i would only change them if they had done a poo.
I change whenever they wake for a bottle if it's needed (feel the nappy through clothes and if it's squishy) I don't think either boys had done a poop after they were put to bed at night though. The only thing about leaving the same nappy on all night without changing is that the nappy can get too full and leak resulting in you having to change the bed linen and bubs clothes that and also maybe the risk of getting nappy rash? (My boys have never had nappy rash so not sure if over night is actually long enough for it to irritate)

I never change through the night unless there is poo!

Obviously in the first few weeks there is poo at every feed, but as they get older they would only wet. I think changing them wakes them up even more and it can be harder to re-settle them.

I only use Huggies nappies at night and only on the rare occassion have I had a leak.

I have never heard of not changing them. If its wet I change it smile
when they sleep through you dont want to wake them for a nappy change

I onlychanged if there a poo or wet through. Iwasnt wakinghim right up to change a nappy.
hmmmm never heard that one before, I guess if they are sleeping through then no don't change it. But every bub varies in how much they wee or poo so do what works for you.

I've always changed bubs nappy before his bottle during the night. I quickly change the nappy whilst DH heats up the bottle then by the time I'm finished the bottle is in his mouth and goes straight back to sleep once finished.

Wil has his bedtime bottle at 7.30pm and by 2-3am when he has his next bottle his nappy is absolutely full so I coudln't not change it or otherwise I'd be changing all his clothes, sheets etc from a leaking nappy sad
