Balanced translocation chromosome Lock Rss

Just wondering if there are any other ladies out there who have this and what your experiences have been.

Im at a lost as to where to go to know. I have a DS who is 2 and we have being trying for another. I have had four m/c and then found out i have a balanced translocation of chromosome 8 and 22.

We cannot see a genentic councillor until december. I am wondering should i keep trying and hope that a pregnancy will eventually happen as i have had one before.

Firstly, let me say I'm so sorry to hear you've had so many losses, that is not easy to experience!
I have a friend who is only 24 years old and she has a chromosomal issue as well, she's had 3 MCs.
She is going through IVF now and they are doing (I hope I get this right) pre implantation genetic testing. They have not been able to have a bub at all yet so I know it is a bit different to you.
If it were me I'd keep trying in the mean time and see what the genetic counsellor says in December, thats not too far away really, 2.5 months? I know it seems like ages away but time will fly smile
Good luck with the appt in December and I hope you get some good news.
I had a rough time conceiving bub number 1 and thought I'd never have children, the idea was devastating, but now I have 3 smile
So even though

Sorry for your loss, not an easy thing to experience.
My husband has a balance translocation at 13 and 14 and has two children from his first marriage, he and his ex did not experience pregnancy loss or fertility problems and we dont know if they have a balance translocation or not but they know about it (they are aged 21 and 18yrs) We were TTC for 12 months and were advised that IVF was our best option as i have endometriosis just about everywhere, so after completing a cycle of IVF with no success i fell pregnant naturally but m/c at 9 weeks. Our fertility specialist spoke to us about the recurrance of m/c and the expense of IVF and advised us about balance translocations. Our next step was PGD (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis), which was carried out through Monash Fertility centre (VIC), our fertility clinic was Next Generation Fertility Parramatta. At the time PGD was $3K out of pocket expense (no medicare rebate), we did this twice with an additional 6 cycles of IVF. I fell pregnant naturally in May last year and now have a healthy son. Im not sure if he has a balance translocation.
Check out all the info you can as IVF and PGD is huge, often with out result. Good luck from a blessed Mum of One smile
I am so sorry for your losses. My husband has a balanced translocation as well, we experienced 6 miscarriages before having my first son Jacob in 2009 after 6 years of trying. I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with our second son who is due in late January 2011, after having another miscarriage in March this year.
I chose not to go the IVF route, it was too emotionally draining for me. I miscarry very early in the pregancy, usually at 8 weeks, and I chose this as a better alternative for me. There is no magic answer when you go see your genetic counsellor, we have to date seen 4 specialists. My husbands translocation cannot be changed, its the way it is. It is a extremely painful process, I cannot empathise with you more. I am terrified of a positive pregnancy test, I expect blood every time I go to the loo, I cannot explain to 'normal' people what it is like to be pregnant, I am not joyful, I am just nervous all the time that I will lose the baby. Maybe if I did go the IVF route, I would save myself the anxiety, but again, there are no guarantees.
There is no right answer. I totally understand the need to have a child, and feeling that we have wasted another month by not falling pregnant. You just have to sometimes take a step back and maybe just take a break, get together again, and keep fighting on. Life is not fair. Bad things happen to good people, but sometimes we win.
All the very best to you and your family, I wish you a healthy pregnancy very soon.
I have translocation in genes 14 and 15. Only found out 2 weeks ago. We have a son who is almost 4 and perfect in every way. We are about to commence IVF and PGD. Wish us luck. smile
Can anyone possibly tell me how long it took to get your results back from your blood test to find out if you had a balanced translocation. My husband and I just lost our baby at 20w due to abnormalities in the 6 & 7 chromosomes in our baby so now we have to get tested for a translocation. We just got the blood test done yesterday and just wanted to find out how long it would take. We just want to know so we can figure out what to do next.
