TTC Jan 2010?? Rss

Hi everyone!

After heaps of umming and ahhing and stressing about money and space and schooling, we have decided, Stuff it were just gonna have another baby sooner! lol!

I am 24, I have a 2 yr old DS and my DF is 25. We weren't going to start TTC till end of next year so we could save for our wedding but we've realised we wont have it all saved in time so instead of delaying another baby even more, we will just have another one before the wedding!

I am kinda hoping for a DD this time as we might have to stop at two kids, but would also love a brother for DS and there is just something so special about a mummy/son relationship that makes me wanna do it again!

Anyone else going to TTC in Jan that wants to join me?

T xx

Hi,

Yep, I'm TTC in January. I'm 26 and my DD is 15mths. My husband and I want our next baby very much, however after having DD in June 2008, I very much want a spring time bubba. Breastfeeding during cold winter nights wasn't fun at all.

Like you, I think we will only be having 2 kids. I really want a son, however I have an inkling I'll have 2 girls. I'm not bothered either way, but would love for hubby to have a boy.

Anyways, it'll be good sharing the journey with you.

Ry
Yay I'm not alone Lol!

Hi Ry,

Maybe we could do research on how to concieve a certain sex? Or swap tips on what the other one did? Lol!

Are you taking pregnancy vitatmins yet? I was thinking about buying some this weekend and get my body ready?

T xo

Nah, I haven't been taking vitamins. Not sure I will, didn't with DD. I would love to know all the tips you have to conceive a boy. If you know any good websites with info let me know.

I have a whole bunch of friends all due between now and January. They are making me sooooo clucky - it's a crazy feeling, because we planned to fall pregnant with DD, but I never had the yearning to 'be pregnant' whereas now I do. Does that make sense?????

Oh well, enjoy your weekend.
Ry

I didnt take them after 12 weeks with DS as they made me feel sick, but i took vitamins at the beginning.

The only thing we did to concieve DS was to have sex right on ovulation. I dont have a regular cycle but after working out when my last period was due and turns out we BD right in the middle of my cycle so right on ovulation. If you have a regular cycle then you'll be able to do that easily.

Any tips for a girl? And yes I know what u mean about yearning for it. I even get phantom kicks! I think i psychologically want it so i think i am pregnant lol!

Weekend has started brilliantly! I am a HUGE Geelong Cats fan and we just won the grand final so I am super happy haha!
Hope yours is going well smile

hi guys, i will be ttc from march 2010, i am getting married on the 6th of march so maybe a honeymoon bub smile id love that. i am 23 and have a 23month old ds and a 4month ds.
i so desperately want a little girl, like you both i will be trying methods to concieve a certain sex, look up dr shettles methods on how to choose the sex of your baby.

here is what he says
Basically, men produce two types of sperms, the X
(female) and Y (male). According to Dr. Shettles'
studies the y-sperms are smaller, weaker, but faster
than their sibling x-sperms, which are bigger,
stronger, but slower.

Based on this fact, there are several things you can
do to "favor" the conception of boys or girls:

(1) The most important aspect of all is timing of
intercourse during the monthly cycle. The closer to
ovulation you have sex, the better the chances to
have a boy, because the y-sperms are faster and tend
to get to the egg first. If you have sex 3 days or
more before ovulation, the better your chances to
conceive a girl, because the weaker y-sperms tend to
die sooner and the x-sperms will be available in
greater quantity whenever the egg is released. On
the other hand, having sex from 2 days before
ovulation, through a few days after ovulation, is
better for conceiving a boy. Around the 2-day point
-- 48 hours before ovulation -- seems to be the 50/50
mark.
(For those with a precise turn of mind, Shettles
clarifies even further [p. 187]: from zero to 24
hours before ovulation, intercourse is more likey to
result in a boy; from 24 to 96 hours before, a girl
is more likely; and the further away from that 24-
hour dividing line in either direction, the better
the odds.)

(2) Position of intercourse and depth of penetration
are important, partly because of acidity/alkalinity
of the woman's reproductive tract (see sec. (6)
below). The closer to the entrance to the vagina, the
more acidic the pH of women's tract. Also, deep
penetration places the sperm closer to the egg, and
gives those aggressive boy sperms a head start smile.
So, a shallow penetration will favor girls and a
deeper will favor boys. Shettles recommends
missionary-position for a girl, and rear-entry (dog-
style) for a boy.

(3) Women's orgasms can also be important. This also
has to do with pH. When a woman has an orgasm, the
body releases a substance that makes the environment
more alkaline, favoring boys. Shettles recommends no
female orgasms when trying for girls!

(4) The sperm count is another factor. Obviously, a
low sperm count to begin with doesn't favor either
sex. But a high sperm count favors boys. Shettles
recommends three things:
(a) When trying for a boy, the man should not
have an ejaculation for 3 days before reaching the
target date a day or two before ovulation.
(Intercourse earlier than 3 days before ovulation
should be with a condom only.) For girls, have sex
every day from the first day after your period ends,
and stop 3 days before ovulation. (No intercourse
even with a condom during that time.)
(b) Shettles recommends that for boys, the man
wear loose underwear only -- that is, men who usually
wear briefs or other tight underwear should switch to
boxers. The idea is the same as wearing boxers to
increase overall fertility -- the testicles need
cooler temperatures for sperms to survive, and the Y-
sperms, since they are weaker, will be helped more
than the X-sperms by this method. However, Shettles
does NOT recommend the opposite, that men wear briefs
for a girl -- this will just decrease overall
fertility.
(c) Also, for a girl, the man is supposed to
take a hot bath immediately before intercourse.
"Room temperature" is fine for a boy. The idea is
the same as the briefs versus boxers -- give the X-
sperms an advantage.

(5) In trying for a boy, Shettles recommends a nice
cup of caffeinated coffee for the man, right before
intercourse -- he isn't clear on how or why this
works, but apparently it gives the Y-sperms a jolt!

(6) Concerning douching and the pH of the women's
reproductive tract: A more acidic environment favors
girls, since it will kill the weaker y-sperms first,
leaving a greater quantity of x-sperms available to
fertilize the egg. On the other hand, a more alkaline
environment favors boys. (Note: Some women are
naturally very acidic and have a hard time conceiving
boys.)
Shettles *formerly* recommended two douching-methods
(involving vinegar or baking soda) to help alter
vaginal pH. However, in the most recent update (c.
1989) of his book, he no longer recommends douching
at all. His comment (pp. 179-180) is that one can
get equally-good results with or without the douches
recommended earlier.
(Because many on the newsgroups who responded in
Sec. 3.3 below were using the older versions of
Shettles' book, there are a number of anecdotes
including the use of douches as well as other
Shettles methods. It's important to emphasize
that, although it won't do any harm if done
properly, Shettles no longer recommends douching
as part of his methods. He does strongly
recommend that nobody begin douching, for *any*
reason, without consulting her health-care
provider.)

Hi Cass,

Thanks for the info! looks like we will both be TTC a girl early next year! Do you have a regular cycle? Mine is completely irregular so I have no idea how i'm going to chart my cycle to find out my best days to concieve a girl
sad IF you hear of any other ways let me know and i'll do the same!

Are you going to try the diets and douches? I was going to buy some calcium and magnesium tablets and try the timing method, not too sure about the other things?

T xo

Hi girls,

Thanks for that info Cas! All the websites I've been looking at all pretty much say the same things.

Cas, I conceived my DD on our wedding night/honeymoon. I was very lucky, because I only was only off the pill for 1month prior.

TJK, like you my cycle is all over the place so I'm not sure of my ovulation dates, and to TTC a boy I'm going to have to be as spot on as I can. Let me know to work out dates.

RY
Apparently its easier to TTC a boy then a girl, so Shettles says anyways! lol

The tips I heard for a boy that may not be that effective, but hey anythings worth a try...

*get your partner to have a shot of coffee before the deed, this gives the boy sperm a boost apparently.
*Boxers not briefs!
*No hot showers
*Dont have too much sex before TTC, try to only have sex on ovulation so you have a higher sperm count.
*Deepest penetration is best, the closer to the cervix the better for boys
*Diet high in salt

For a girl...

*take magnesium or calcium tablets - alternitavely eat a diet high in calcium and magnesium
*shallow penetration
*Hot bath before sex
*low salt diet
*have sex every day to every second day from end of period till 3 days before ovulation.
*no orgasm for women sad lol!

Thats the gist of what i've learnt in my investigating.
Feel free to add more smile

As for the ovulation tips, well i'm lost there.
Only thing I think we can do is buy those ovulation test strips, but I have no idea how to use them so if you decide to try them let me know hoe they work hahaha! I know when I have eggwhite CM that i've ovulated, but I dont know how to tell before i do, which will make it hard to TTC a girl.

I know how you feel it is such a stress woring about the money side and not knowing how you will pay for things on one wage, me and my df have bein thinkin about it for 2 months and have decided to try around dec/jan fingers crossed.

Good to know i'm not the only one ZoeBrown!
How exciting but! I'm nervous about how it will all go, but I know that I want more kids, and cant see a reason to delay it any longer, its not like were going to magically become rich overnight! lol!

Keep us posted on how your going smile and if you think of any great money saving tips let me know

Hi girls,

good to read about all this excitement. I am 30 and DH is 32. We have a DS 10 months old and are looking at TTC around easter next year. Pretty much so I will work for a year to get maternity pay (is that dodgy!?!?!) but I guess we all need to plan ahead money0wise. We too are hoping for a girl, but the idea of 2 little boys is also great! And stopping at 2 is probably right for us as well...

So...looks like early next year is going to be an exciting time for us all. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's journeys and for the girls getting married...even more exciting times ahead!

Bring on 2010!!!!
